Insurance approval...

The next step in my journey to a butterfly is to get insurance to help cover the cost of this expensive surgery.  I had to go back to a couple of my previous doctors and get medical documentation that I had tried and failed a weight loss plan that they had prescribed for me.  Sent it in and 2 weeks later I got my acceptance letter.  However, I do know that it isn't always that easy, but the people at St. Vincent Bariatric Center helps everyone with getting everything together to hopefully get an approval.  Next step .....testing....

Pyschological Evaluation....

Next step in my journey is an evaluation by a certified pyschologist....time for me to evaluate myself now and my past relationships with people and food....It really does help put things into perspective when you speak about things outloud to someone else....I passed....on to the next step....

Consultation Part 2

During my consultation with my bariatric surgeon we had to fill out a history of ourselves, with items such as what ways have we tried to lose weight in the past as well as a family history and a current list of medications we were taking.....my surgeon took one look at the list of meds I was on and told me she felt that insurance would have no reason not to pay for my surgery....I was on 8 pills a day and 4 shots a day just for my diabetes alone....

Consultation....

Before you can have any type of bariatric surgery you must have a consultation with a certified bariatric surgeon. I chose to have my surgery at St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel, Indiana.  They have done over 16,000 surgeries and have a floor dedicated just for bariatric patients....
